Strengthening cooperation between Hai Duong and Seine Saint Denis

The two provinces’ representatives reached agreement on new contents to be contracted for cooperation, implementation in the coming time.

The delegation of Hai Duong province’s officials led by the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Deputy Secretary Vu Van Son on 5 June set off for the 9th Vietnam – France Conference on Decentralized Cooperation from 9 to the end of 12 June in Brest city (France).

On 6 and 7 June, the Hai Duong delegation worked with the leaders of Seine Saint Denis province, which has had a friendly partnership with Hai Duong for a long time.

Participating in the working session were Mr. Jean Charles Negre, the Seine Saint Denis provincial Council’s Vice Chairman in charge of international decentralized cooperation and vocational training, and members of the provincial Council.

At the working session, the two provinces’ representatives informed each other about the results of each side’s socio-economic development over the past time, reassessed the performance of the collaborative contents signed by the two provinces, and reached agreement on new contents to be contracted for cooperation, implementation in the coming time, especially in the field of environment, health, education, etc.

Shortly after this working session, our province’s delegation worked privately with several members of the Seine Saint Denis provincial Council in charge of economic field to discuss investment attraction.

On the morning of 9 June, the Hai Duong delegation is to attend and report on a number of topics of the 9th Vietnam – France Conference on Decentralized Cooperation.

Representatives of 16 provinces, cities having friendly partnerships with French localities are expected to take part in this year’s conference, which is generally themed: “Heading towards a new development model: Responsibilities and opportunities of Vietnamese and French localities as well as local partners”.

The conference’s content is divided into three major topics, including:

- Education – training, university teaching, health, and culture in Francophone space;

- Planning for development of urban and rural spaces;

- Localities facing economic challenges.

Each major topic is separated into minor, detailed ones for the delegates to have chances for more intensive discussion.
