A simple dish that makes a delicious addition to any dining table or party spread, Drunken Chicken (Ga Say) is simmered to perfection with a hint of cinnamon, star anise and wine. Flavourful and delicious, this dish symbolizes prosperity, family togetherness, joy and unity.

Ingredients: serves 3


½ chicken
100g dry onion
5 star anise pods
10 bay leaves
1 cinnamon stick
500ml water
100g chicken powder
200g sugar
70g salt
300g rice wine

Method:

Bring a large pot of water to boil.

Simmer dry onion, star anise, bay leaves and cinnamon for 30 minutes. Add chicken powder, sugar, salt and wine. Lower heat and place chicken in the mixture. Simmer for 3 hours.

Chop the chicken and place on dish. Add wine.
