The People's Committee of Hai Duong province held a ceremony on June 30 morning to open May bridge across the Kinh Mon river, connecting Kinh Mon provincial town and Kim Thanh district, to traffic.

May bridge is a key work celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of the provincial Party organization (June 10, 1940 – 2020) and the 17th provincial Party Congress.

The bridge was built at the location of Tuan May ferry to replace it.
The bridge and retaining walls, 965 m long, are made of pre-stressed reinforced concrete with a total investment of VND348 billion from the State budget.
With the main span across the river and each approach 90 m and 594 m long, respectively, the 12 m wide bridge starts from Thang Long commune, Kinh Mon provincial town, to Cong Hoa commune, Kim Thanh district.
The bridge construction began in August 2019. Though facing geological difficulties and Covid-19 epidemic, contractors concentrated on continuous construction, exceeded the set progress, and ensured quality, aesthetics, and safety.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duong Thai affirmed that May bridge had marked a historic milestone in the provincial transport field in terms of meaning, importance, scale, progress, and quality.
The use of May bridge is not only a joy and pride of Party organizations and residents of Kinh Mon provincial town and Kim Thanh district but also a common joy of people in the whole province.
The official acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the investor, construction, consulting, and monitoring units, those directly involved in construction, and relevant localities and thanked locals for their support and facilitation so that the project could be completed soon.
Together with Trieu bridge, which is under construction, May bridge will create a convenient and groundbreaking traffic axis, helping areas facing traffic difficulties well exploit their potential and strengths.
The use of May bridge will contribute to promoting the provincial socio-economic development
After being put into use, May bridge will open up great opportunities for the two localities and create strong socio-economic changes for the area, the province, as well as the region.
The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee required the construction unit to quickly complete the remaining items.
The Department of Transport will undertake, manage, and operate the project and ensure efficiency and traffic safety.
On this occasion, six collectives and six individuals with outstanding achievements in site clearance and bridge construction were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee.
